No name has been tied to the shooter yet. The case sits open. Detectives are working the scene and whatever leads they can find. The street went quiet again after the noise of the shots and the sirens.

Luis was 32. That is all the public knows for now about the man who died. The rest belongs to the people who knew him best and to the investigators still piecing the night together.

Early morning gunfire on a Reading street is the kind of thing that keeps people looking over their shoulders. One man is dead. The person who pulled the trigger is still out there.

The facts do not stretch far. A report of shots. A body found. An autopsy. A homicide ruling. Everything else waits on the next step from police.

For now the focus stays on the open case and the man who did not walk away from North 5th Street that night. Luis Daniel Torres Jr. is the one who paid the price.

Incident location: 1400 block of North 5th Street, Reading, Pennsylvania
