A shooting broke out at a residence in the 300 block of Susie Avenue in Cotton Plant on Saturday, August 1. Woodruff County Sheriff’s deputies responded and found two people shot. One was 20-year-old Omari Chapple. The other was 40-year-old Talisha Chapple.
Omari was rushed by ambulance to Unity Health–White County Medical Center in Searcy. Medical staff worked on him but he died from his injuries.

Investigators learned a third person was wounded too. Annisia Atkins, 22, of Cotton Plant, went by private vehicle to Forrest City Medical Center. She was then airlifted to Regional One Health in Memphis and listed in critical condition.
Talisha Chapple was also airlifted to Regional One Health. She was reported stable.
Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division called it a homicide and battery case. As of the latest word they have not announced a suspect. No arrests have been made. No motive has been released. The case stays open.
The shooting has left people in Cotton Plant dealing with the sudden loss of Omari.
Family and friends of Omari are getting support from the community while they wait for more answers on what happened.
