Losing someone without a chance to say goodbye cuts deeper than words can ever describe. For the family and close friends of Frank “Frankie” McKulka, a sudden phone call on a quiet Thursday afternoon changed everything in an instant, leaving a massive hole in the hearts of everyone who loved him.
The terrible tragedy went down along Route 51 in Perryopolis, right in the heart of Fayette County. What started out as just another ordinary day quickly turned into a scene of complete heartbreak that stopped traffic and shocked the entire town.
Frankie, a 41-year-old Grindstone native, was out riding his motorcycle on the highway. According to local law enforcement, his bike was moving at a high rate of speed down the stretch of road shortly before everything went terribly wrong.
At the same time, 81-year-old Larry Hall of La Belle was driving his vehicle along the very same route. In a matter of seconds, the paths of both men crossed in a violent crash that nobody could have seen coming.
The force of the collision was devastating. Emergency crews rushed to the scene on Route 51, but there was nothing they could do to save either driver. Both Frankie and Larry Hall passed away right at the crash site from their injuries.
A passenger sitting inside Hall’s car managed to survive the initial impact. Paramedics worked quickly to transport the surviving passenger to a nearby hospital, where they remain in critical condition as doctors monitor their recovery.
