The quiet town of Caldwell, Idaho, is wrapped in deep heartache this week as a family and an entire community grieve the sudden loss of 19-year-old Jade Aliyah Ramirez. Jade was the kind of person who made everyone around her feel seen and cared for, leaving behind memories that her loved ones are holding onto tightly right now.
Her life came to an unexpected and tragic end early Sunday morning, July 26, 2026, after a shocking incident in a nearby town. What started as a regular weekend night turned into an absolute nightmare in a matter of seconds.
Around 4:20 a.m., officers with the Nampa Police Department received a frantic call reporting that a pedestrian had been hit by a car in a parking lot along the 1500 block of Caldwell Boulevard in Nampa.
When emergency crews arrived at the scene, they found Jade lying in the parking lot with critical, life-threatening injuries. The vehicle that struck her was nowhere to be found, having sped off before help could arrive.
First responders rushed Jade to a nearby hospital, doing everything they possibly could to save her life. Medical staff worked tirelessly, but her injuries were simply too severe, and she was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.
As detectives began digging into what happened, the story took an even darker turn. What initially looked like a terrible hit-and-run accident quickly transformed into a criminal investigation when police discovered the vehicle had hit Jade on purpose.
Investigators tracked down the driver, identifying her as 18-year-old Alissa Mae Huerta of Caldwell. Police arrested Huerta and officially charged her with first-degree murder in connection with Jade’s death.
