Waterford detectives are working around the clock to figure out exactly what happened inside a local apartment where Desi Samone and her newborn son lost their lives.
The investigation began around 10:30 p.m. Friday after an emergency call sent Waterford police officers and the Waterford Regional Fire Department to the Whispering Woods Apartments.

When first responders arrived, they found the 36-year-old mother and her 2-month-old baby boy unresponsive in a bathtub filled with water.
Crews instantly started CPR and lifesaving procedures before putting both victims into separate ambulances for immediate transport.
Police units escorted both ambulances through local traffic to get mother and child to separate hospital emergency rooms as fast as possible.
Medical staff at both facilities took over emergency care, but doctors were unable to revive either the mother or her infant son.
Autopsies completed Saturday morning by the Oakland County Medical Examiner confirmed that drowning was the official cause of death for both victims.
Law enforcement officials say the case remains wide open while investigators wait on pending toxicology reports to help piece together the full story.
