A 22-year-old man is behind bars after a weekend shooting in Rock Hill left a young woman dead. Police tracked down Jamorria McClinton hours after the incident and booked him on severe violent crime charges.

​Officers arrested McClinton on Saturday afternoon at a relative’s home. Investigators also located and seized the handgun they believe was used during the killing on Horseman Drive.
​McClinton now faces formal charges of murder alongside possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. He remains in police custody while investigators assemble their case.

​The incident started in the quiet hours of Saturday morning. Around 3:50 a.m., dispatchers received calls reporting gunshots at a residence on Horseman Drive.

​When Rock Hill police officers arrived at the scene, they searched the property and headed toward the rear of the house. On the back patio, they found 18-year-old Aliyah White suffering from a gunshot wound.

​First responders pronounced White dead at the scene. York County Coroner Sabrina Gast identified the teenager and ordered an autopsy and toxicology report to confirm the exact circumstances of her death.

​The Rock Hill Police Department and the York County Coroner’s Office continue to work the joint investigation. Authorities are asking anyone with relevant details about McClinton or the events leading up to the shooting to contact local police or York County Crimestoppers.
