Ernie Garcia was 44 years old and well known around Pineville. Those who knew him best remember a guy who always brought warmth into a room and made time for the people in his life. His sudden passing has left a deep emotional void across the entire community.
The tragic incident unfolded late Friday night around 11 p.m. along Highway 498 near Powell Lane. Garcia was riding his motorcycle westbound when things went terribly wrong in a matter of seconds.
For reasons that state troopers are still working to figure out, the motorcycle drifted off the pavement and headed into a roadside ditch. The sudden impact caused the bike to overturn, throwing Garcia completely off the vehicle.
