Martha Egan, 84, of Dover, turned left on a Sunday morning and a young man died. It happened around 10:37 a.m. on State Route 39 at County Road 77 in Sugarcreek Township. She drove a red 2016 Mazda CX-5 eastbound and aimed for Prysi Road.
Marcus Miller, 26, of Sugarcreek, came the other way on his black 2011 Kawasaki EX250. He rode west. As Egan crossed the lane, the motorcycle hit the right side of her Mazda hard.
The force sent Miller and his bike sliding over the center line. They then hit the left front of a white 2023 Nissan Rogue driven by Tiffany Ervin, 49, of Coshocton. She also headed east. That second crash piled on the damage.
Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers from New Philadelphia arrived. Miller wore a helmet and gear but still died at the scene. Egan stayed in her seatbelt and walked away unhurt. Ervin had no injuries either.
The road closed for a while as crews worked. Investigators spent hours mapping the scene. The probe continues. Officials have not said if anyone faces charges.
Sugarcreek lost a 26-year-old. Egan faces the weight of that morning. Drivers have to look twice before turning across traffic. One quick move can change lives forever.
