The tragic event unfolded late Friday evening as Davies made his way down Louisiana Highway 16. The night was dark and quiet, with very little traffic on that stretch of road near Ben Fugler Road. He was driving his 2020 Toyota Tundra pickup truck, heading southbound toward his destination just like any ordinary weekend drive.

Without warning, around 11:00 p.m., the journey took a fatal turn. For reasons that investigators are still trying to figure out, the Toyota Tundra drifted off the right side of the roadway. The heavy pickup truck left the lane completely and slammed directly into a roadside tree with tremendous force.

Emergency crews rushed out to the scene as soon as calls came in, but there was little they could do upon arrival. Davies suffered extremely severe injuries during the crash. First responders pronounced him dead right there at the scene, making for a heartbreaking moment along that dark stretch of Highway 16.

As state troopers worked the crash scene, they noted that Davies was not wearing a seatbelt when the impact happened. Authorities are currently running standard tests to see if impairment played any role in the crash. Toxicological samples were collected as part of the routine investigation, though results remain pending.

While police continue working to piece together every detail of that night, friends and family are focusing on remembering David. The tragic loss serves as a painful reminder of how fast life can change on a dark country highway. Neighbors in Slidell and Livingston Parish continue to wrap their arms around the grieving family during this incredibly tough time.
