A late-night drive turned fatal in an instant for a 17-year-old Phoenix teenager on Wednesday night. Jordan Cux Blas was behind the wheel of his white Toyota Tundra around 10 p.m. when his life was tragically cut short.
The crash happened along Cave Creek Road, right south of Hatcher Road in north Phoenix. That stretch of road in central Arizona’s Maricopa County suddenly turned into a scene of chaos and flashing lights. Jordan lost control of his truck, hit a raised curb, and flipped over before crashing into a fence.
Emergency calls poured in, and Phoenix police officers rushed to the location. When first responders arrived, they spotted the white Toyota Tundra completely overturned against the fence line.
Phoenix Fire Department crews stepped in immediately and tried lifesaving measures to save Jordan. Unfortunately, his injuries were too severe, and he was pronounced dead right at the scene.
As police officers began investigating the crash, details emerged about another vehicle involved in the moments leading up to the rollover. Sergeant Chris Berrelleza of the Phoenix Police Department confirmed that a second car was driving aggressively alongside Jordan’s truck right before he lost control.
The driver of that second car was also a 17-year-old who pulled over and stayed at the scene after the crash. Officers evaluated the surviving teenager and noted that he showed no signs of alcohol or drug impairment.
Phoenix police collision reconstruction detectives are currently piecing together evidence from the roadway, including vehicle marks and witness reports. Authorities say the completed investigation will determine if any criminal charges or traffic citations will be filed.
