Detectives in Scott County are racing to piece together a timeline after a routine morning took a dark turn on a country road. Law enforcement officers are digging for answers after a thirty-five-year-old local woman was found deceased alongside the highway.
The victim has been identified as Kali Hasty, a resident of Sikeston, Missouri. Authorities confirmed that her next of kin have been notified as investigators work around the clock to determine how her life ended.
First responders were dispatched early Saturday morning, July 25, to County Highway 529 near Sikeston. A passerby reported a body lying on the side of the road, prompting an immediate response from sheriff’s deputies, fire personnel, and medical crews.
Upon arrival at the scene, officials confirmed that Kali Hasty was already deceased. The surrounding conditions immediately raised red flags for responding officers, leading the Scott County Sheriff’s Office to class her death as suspicious.
Recognizing the serious nature of the situation, local authorities activated the Major Case Squad. Bringing in a team of specialized investigators allows law enforcement to flood the area with manpower, conduct multiple interviews, and track down early leads.
Detectives are currently working through physical evidence gathered near County Highway 529. They are attempting to map out Hasty’s final hours and are asking the community not to hold back any information, no matter how minor it might seem.
