Justin Meenaghan steered his 2006 Ford Mustang south on North Parham Road just before 3 p.m. Saturday. Somewhere between Highway 55 and Highway 557 in Clover he lost control. The car crossed the center line and hit a Kia Sorento head-on.
The 18-year-old died at the scene. So did the Kia driver, 36-year-old Brooklyn Gilfillan. She had been going north with six passengers.

Five of those passengers were juveniles. All six from the Kia went to a hospital for treatment. Their conditions stay unknown for now.
North Parham Road closed for several hours after the wreck. It reopened around 8 p.m. once crews finished their work.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol keeps digging into why Meenaghan’s Mustang left its lane. No cause has been named yet.
Meenaghan never walked away from the crash. His Mustang sat crumpled against the Kia on the quiet stretch of road. First responders found both drivers already gone.
Troopers still gather evidence from the pavement. They check for speed or other factors that might explain the sudden cross into oncoming traffic. The case remains open.
