A violent active shooter situation disrupted a busy Saturday afternoon in Twin Falls, leaving three people dead and two others wounded. The attack began shortly after 3 p.m. near the newly opened In-N-Out Burger, sending shock and panic through a busy commercial area.
Among those slain in the assault was Terry Dudley, who was sitting nearby charging his Tesla vehicle when the shooting broke out. Dudley was struck and killed before he could get away from the gunfire. Two other victims lost their lives in the sudden strike, while two more suffered injuries.
The gunfire broke out near a fast-food spot that had celebrated its grand opening only days prior. The newly opened location was packed with customers and weekend traffic when shots began ringing through the parking area. Eyewitnesses described a terrifying scene as crowds scrambled to dodge bullets and find shelter.
Response units arrived quickly after multiple emergency calls came in reporting an active gunman. Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks confirmed that officers engaged the situation alongside regional law enforcement. The suspected shooter was killed during the response, ending the immediate threat to the public.
Medical crews rushed the two surviving victims to St. Luke’s Magic Valley Medical Center for immediate treatment. Meanwhile, officers set up a wide perimeter around the crime scene. Roads surrounding the restaurant were closed off for hours to allow teams to collect evidence safely.
A joint investigation is actively underway to determine what led to the shooting and find a clear motive. The inquiry involves the Twin Falls Police Department, the Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office, the Idaho State Police, and the FBI. Authorities are continuing to review witness statements and physical evidence gathered at the site.
Police eventually lifted the temporary shelter-in-place order after securing the area and clearing surrounding streets. However, the tragedy has left a lasting impact on Twin Falls.
