That bright future came to a sudden, heartbreaking halt on a warm Saturday when Yanick headed out with a group of friends for a swim. They ended up at the Shadowbrook Quarries in Milford, a secluded local water hole tucked nearly a quarter-mile deep into the woods. It seemed like just another summer hangout, the kind of afternoon teens have enjoyed for years, completely unaware of the hidden dangers resting beneath the water’s calm surface.
Things took a terrifying turn when Yanick stepped into the water and did not come back up. Panic immediately set in among his friends as they realized he was in real trouble.
