A young life full of promise ended way too soon on a calm Friday evening. Sixteen-year-old Braelyn Anderson was gunned down in a sudden wave of violence that left a local neighborhood in total shock.
It all started right around 8:00 p.m. on Oswego Street. Neighbors heard gunshots ring out through the night air and called emergency services immediately.
When officers pulled up to the scene, they found a young male lying on the ground near a parked vehicle. He was suffering from severe gunshot wounds and needed urgent medical help.
Paramedics rushed Braelyn straight to the hospital as doctors fought hard to save his life. Tragically, the young teenager could not overcome his injuries and passed away shortly after arriving.
While police were still working at the primary crime scene, they found out about a second victim on nearby Wyandotte Street. That individual was also rushed to the hospital and is thankfully expected to pull through.
Right now, Braelyn’s family and friends are left carrying a heavy burden of grief and unanswered questions. A sixteen-year-old boy should be thinking about high school and his future, not having his life taken away on a neighborhood street.
