It was supposed to be a quiet Friday afternoon in Port St. John, a peaceful community tucked about 40 miles east of Orlando. But for three residents relaxing inside their home, peace vanished in a single terrifying split second. A sudden, loud crash echoed from the front yard, signaling the start of a nightmare nobody saw coming.
Before anyone inside could even figure out what happened, a stranger was already charging around the back of the house. Moments later, 31-year-old Jadarius West burst through the sliding glass door, invading the home and immediately shouting demands for vehicle keys.

Panic quickly filled the house as West marched into the kitchen and grabbed a heavy knife. What started as a chaotic car crash transformed in seconds into an armed life-or-death confrontation inside a cozy family living space.
When one resident tried to stand up to the intruder, West slashed them across the hand. The force of the blow sent the victim tumbling to the floor. Seeing their loved one hurt, a second resident bravely stepped in to help, only to be sliced directly across the neck by the armed intruder.
Amid the terror and spilled blood, a third occupant scrambled to escape, falling to the ground in a desperate bid to get away. Miraculously, despite the chaos and panic, all three residents managed to push past the suspect and scramble out the door into the daylight.
Outside on the front lawn, neighbors and responding officers found a harrowing scene. One victim was desperately pressing a cloth against a bleeding neck wound while Florida Highway Patrol troopers and Brevard County Sheriff’s deputies pulled up with lights flashing and sirens blaring.
Meanwhile, West remained trapped inside the house he had just violently breached. Law enforcement officers wasted no time, rapidly setting up an airtight perimeter around the property to ensure the suspect couldn’t slip away into the surrounding neighborhood.
The tense standoff ended when West made a desperate move to break out, leaping out through a home window. Waiting deputies moved in instantly, tackling and handcuffing him without further incident, bringing a violent Friday nightmare to a swift conclusion.
Both injured residents were rushed to receive urgent medical care for their knife wounds. While authorities have held back their names and official conditions, the quiet streets of Port St. John are still reeling from how fast an ordinary afternoon turned into pure survival.
