Tyler Mason came into this world on April 15, 1999, in Evansville, Indiana, born to Stephen and Trisha Mason. From the very beginning, Tyler lived with a disability, but he never let that define who he was or what he could do. On Thursday evening, July 30, 2026, at 6:23 PM, Tyler passed away peacefully at the Linda E White Hospice House in Evansville at the age of 27. His life was short, but it was filled with genuine happiness, boundless affection, and a smile that could effortlessly light up any room.
Growing up in Fairfield, Tyler loved every single moment of his life. He spent many of his days attending Brownsville School, where he made lasting memories and built strong friendships. But his world extended far beyond the classroom. Tyler loved to travel and go on cruises with his family, taking in new sights and soaking up every fresh experience. He was always right there in the stands, cheering loud as his brothers Trenton and Trey played sports, and later, he loved hitting the road to visit them at college.
If you knew Tyler, you knew he had a deep passion for the simple pleasures in life. He absolutely loved music, and you could see his face light up whenever a good song played. Fireworks were another big favorite of his, filling him with pure wonder every time they lit up the night sky. On hot summer days, there was nowhere he would rather be than floating calmly in the pool, enjoying the warm sunshine.
Nature brought Tyler a special kind of peace and delight. He loved spending hours outside, simply sitting under the open sky and listening to the birds sing. No matter what challenges he faced, his spirit remained bright and upbeat. His family made sure he experienced as much of the world as possible, refusing to let anything hold him back from enjoying every single day to the fullest.
Tyler leaves behind a deeply loving family who cherished every moment with him. He is survived by his devoted parents, Steve and Trisha Mason, and his brothers, Trenton and Trey Mason. He also leaves behind his loving grandparents, Delores Mason, Gregory Max and Anita Tipps, and Marsha Stennett, as well as his aunt and uncle, Keith and Cathy Spence. He will be deeply missed by his special cousin Megan Spence, cousins Amber Lovato and her family, Jordan Spence and his family, alongside many other caring relatives and close friends. Tyler was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Ron Mason and Lonnie Stennett, as well as several beloved great-grandparents.
The Mason family wants to extend a heartfelt, special thank you to everyone who loved and supported Tyler throughout his 27 years. They are deeply grateful to Dr. Jed Jones for his tireless commitment and compassionate care right from the start. They also want to recognize Nina Dunn, who served as Tyler’s dedicated aide during his school years, along with every teacher, caregiver, and friend who made a positive impact on Tyler’s journey over the years.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Tyler’s life during visitation on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Fairfield Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will be held the following morning at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at the church, with burial to follow at Maple Hill Cemetery. For those wishing to honor Tyler’s memory, donations can be made to Brownsville School or the Linda E White Hospice House, accepted through Johnson & Vaughn Funeral Home.
