But for those who knew and loved 54-year-old Amarilis A. Jimenez de Burnett, that ordinary Wednesday morning would end in unbearable tragedy.
Just before 7:00 a.m., Amarilis was driving down local streets in her 2009 Honda Fit Sport. Around town, she was known as a warm, kind soul who always put her family and friends first. Her sudden loss has left a painful silence across a neighborhood where her presence meant so much to so many.
The routine drive took a tragic turn near the crossing of West County 14th Street and South Fourth Avenue. As her Honda entered the intersection, it collided with a westbound 2020 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. In a single horrifying second, a peaceful morning trip turned into a devastating emergency.
