Then an SUV came around the bend and clipped him right in the 1900 block of West Washington Street. He died on impact. McLean County Coroner Kathy Yoder said multiple blunt-force injuries were the cause. Toxicology results are still pending, but the coroner’s office already ruled it an accident.
Emergency crews and the McLean County Sheriff’s Office rolled up around 5:05 p.m. near the I-55 and I-74 corridor. First responders gave him what medical help they could right there on the street. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s name is now out – Wayne W. Fisher, 88, of Bloomington. No word yet on who was driving the SUV or any possible contributing factors.
Investigators from the coroner’s office, the sheriff’s department, and the county’s accident reconstruction team are still digging.
