Alexander Schreifels was 40 years old when his Honda motorcycle got mixed up in a crash on Interstate 64. It happened Monday morning around 6:21 a.m. in Norfolk, about half a mile from the Granby Street exit. He was heading westbound when things went wrong.
Virginia State Police say the first collision pulled in his bike, a GMC Denali, and a Nissan Rogue. Alexander took serious hits. Crews got him to a hospital. He did not make it.

Right there at the same spot, a second crash kicked off. A Toyota 4Runner slammed into the back of a Ford Explorer. The person behind the wheel of the Explorer ended up with injuries that were not life-threatening. They got a ride to the hospital for treatment.
Cops are still digging into both wrecks. No final word yet on exactly how it all lined up.
Back in Norfolk, family and friends are dealing with the sudden hole left by Alexander. People who knew him talk about the regular days they spent together and the way he showed up for folks around him.
The community has stepped in with quiet support while everyone tries to sort through the loss. Moments shared over the years are what they hold onto now.
Alexander Schreifels is gone, but the people who cared about him keep those memories close. The investigation continues on the highway where it happened.
