Investigators identified the driver as 44-year-old Ernie Garcia. Early findings show that Garcia was traveling westbound along the highway when his motorcycle suddenly drifted off the road.

The motorcycle plunged straight into a nearby ditch and flipped over on impact. The force of the rollover launched Garcia completely off the bike, inflicting severe physical trauma.

Emergency medical teams arrived shortly after the crash and rushed Garcia to a local hospital for urgent treatment. Despite the best efforts of medical staff, authorities were later notified that Garcia passed away from his injuries.

As part of their standard protocol for fatal wrecks, state troopers collected routine toxicology samples for laboratory testing. Investigators stated that impairment is suspected to have played a role in causing the accident.

The official investigation into the crash remains ongoing as Troop E continues to review all physical evidence from the scene. Law enforcement officials have not yet released additional details about what led up to the vehicle leaving the road.

Meanwhile, news of the tragic crash has resonated across Rapides Parish, where friends and loved ones are coming to terms with Garcia’s passing. The tragic outcome serves as a solemn reminder of how quickly a late-night ride can turn fatal.
